Booking terms and conditions
The Contract
When you book a cruise holiday with CruiseKings (John SempleTravel Ltd), you will enter into a legally binding contract with the Supplier offering the cruise holiday (eg P&O Cruises, Fred Olsen Cruise Line, Cunard Line, Royal Caribbean, etc). It is your responsibility to have read, understood and accepted the Supplier’s booking conditions prior to booking, and these contain important information including the Supplier’s cancellation procedure.
Each Supplier’s booking conditions can be found in the relevant brochure and/or website.
From time to time some of the Supplier terms and conditions may vary from their standard T&Cs but you will be advised of this before the booking is completed e.g. certain special offer prices may require full payment and are non-refundable from the time it is booked.

The contract will be formed when we confirm the cruise holiday over the telephone with you, and dispatch a written confirmation through the post.

Any cruise holiday you purchase using this web site, which is confirmed in accordance with these terms and conditions, will constitute a legal agreement between you and the Supplier. John Semple Travel acts as agent only and will not be responsible for providing your cruise holiday.

Payments
Prior to a booking being confirmed a deposit or full payment will be required.
The deposit amount will be in accordance with the Supplier’s terms and conditions.
Should you make a booking outwith the Supplier’s balance due date, the balance due date is shown on your deposit payment receipt.
It is your responsibility to ensure the balance payment is made by the due date.
If your balance payment has not been received by the due date then John Semple Travel will endeavour to notify you that payment is due.
But, if the balance payment has not been received prior to the Supplier’s balance payment deadline, John Semple Travel will notify the supplier and your booking will be cancelled with loss of all prior payments (deposits, admin fees, etc).

Card Processing Charges
Debit and Switch cards £2 per transaction.
Credit cards 2% of transaction value.

All American Express payments will carry a processing charge of 2.5%

Receipts
For your protection and in accordance with the Civil Aviation (Air Travel Organisers Licensing) Regulations 1995 John Semple Travel acts as Agent for ATOL Protected Tour Operators. After booking any fly/cruise holiday with us you will be sent a paper confirmation and receipt through the post. The receipt will show the tour operator's ATOL licence number and will detail items provided by the tour operator which are covered by the tour operator's ATOL licence from the CAA.
Also for your protection, the receipt will show the full cost of your cruise holiday as shown on the Suppliers’ confirmation invoice. Any applicable discounts offered by John Semple travel will be shown separately on the receipt.

Cancellations
Once your cruise holiday has been booked, it can be cancelled subject to payment of a cancellation charge. These charges are set by the Suppliers in accordance with their booking conditions which govern the contract. Most cancellation charges are based on a sliding scale, with a percentage of the holiday cost payable in cancellation fees. This scale rises closer to the date of departure that the holiday is cancelled. Any cancellations must be made in writing and this must be done as soon as possible by the person in whose name the booking was made. When doing so, please quote your cruise reference number, name and departure date. In the event of cancellation, any charges may be covered by your Travel Insurance - please refer to your policy for more information.
John Semple Travel will only notify the Supplier to cancel your cruise holiday once we have received your written instruction and the cancellation charges at this time will be applicable.

At present, The CruiseKings do not levy any extra fees for processing the cancellation requests for you with the following exception:

Special Note about Princess Cruises
For all bookings made from 17th March 2011 for sailings disembarking in 2012 onwards (cruises numbers beginning with a "2"), Princess will allow the booking to be cancelled, up until 180 days before travel,  with a full refund of deposit. However, all such bookings will be subject to a £50 administration fee levied by Semple Travel.

From time to time some the Supplier cancellation terms may vary from their standard T&Cs but you will be advised of this before the booking is completed e.g. certain special offer prices may require full payment and are non-refundable from the time it is booked.

Changes to your booking.
If you wish to make any changes to your cruise holiday please notify us as soon as possible.
All changes are subject to the Supplier’s booking terms and conditions and the Supplier may levy a charge (usually non-refundable) and this is payable at the time the change is made.
John Semple Travel do not normally levy any additional charges for such changes. However, in exceptional circumstances, we do reserve to right to levy a reasonable administration charge.

Special Requests, Special Needs, Disabilities
When you book with us, you may wish to make a special request on your booking, for example if you would like vegetarian meals. We will pass these on to the Supplier for you, however, please bear in mind that these are subject to availability from the Supplier and their availability may not always be guaranteed.

If you or any member of your party have any medical condition or disability that means you need special travel, accommodation or dietary arrangements, please telephone our national call centre on 0141  762 5555 before you book a cruise holiday. We can then check with the Supplier of your travel arrangement to see whether they can meet these needs.

Travel Insurance
It is essential that all members of your party have adequate travel insurance cover for your trip. In fact all cruise lines insist this is a mandatory requirement of their booking conditions and they will require certain insurance policy details to be supplied to them prior to cruising, usually online.
We can help you with this, by offering a competitive policy.

Travel Documents
Traditionally most Suppliers sent travel documents including luggage labels through the post and you could expect to receive these about 2 weeks before departure.
But many Suppliers offer the choice to access and print these documents yourself via the Supplier’s own website as an alternative. Sometimes the Supplier will only allow travel documents to be issued this way – depending on the offer promotion or for very late bookings.
Remember, luggage labels are always available at your cruise terminal.

Passports and Visas
Everyone normally requires a valid passport and sometimes a visa to travel abroad. It is your responsibility to ensure that all members of your party have valid passports and visas for your trip, and that the names on the passports of all members of your party match the names on your tickets. British Citizens require a valid full 10-year British Citizen passport for travel outside the British Isles.
Certain destinations may require at least 6 months validity remaining on the passport on the date of return. Non British Citizens including other EU nationals should contact the embassy, high commission or consulate of your destination for up-to-date advice on passport requirements.
If you need to apply for a new passport, you should do so well in advance of travel to allow plenty of time for your application to be processed. Further information about applications can be obtained from the Passport Office on 0870 5210410.
We recommend that all customers should re-check their passport and visa requirements 6 weeks before they travel.
Visas may be required for British Citizens for entry to non-EU countries. Visas may also be required for longer stays over three months in certain EU countries. Immigration, visa and entry restrictions may apply both in the EU and elsewhere for other nationalities, including other EU nationals, and British Citizens who have conditions on their entry to the UK. Anyone with a criminal record travelling abroad may require a visa. This applies to entry to the USA and to other countries.
You should contact the embassy, high commission or consulate of the destination for up-to-date advice on immigration and visa requirements. It is your responsibility to ensure that all members of your party have valid visas for the travel being undertaken. John Semple Travel cannot accept any responsibility if a holiday has to be cancelled because the relevant authorities have refused a visa.

Special Note about USA
If you are travelling to, transiting or one of your ports of call is visiting USA (certain territorial dependencies) then you must obtain authorisation using the ESTA Visa Waiver programme.
This requirement is necessary even if your flight is only touching down in USA for refuelling purposes.
The process for obtaining an ESTA is online and the official website to visit is
There is a nominal charge for using this service.

Health and Safety
Some destinations have particular health requirements. For medical advice regarding your holiday destination or journey, including vaccinations, you should contact your general practitioner. Please do so well in advance of your departure so you can arrange to have any necessary (or recommended) immunisations in good time.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) provides up-to-date information on safety issues world-wide. You can get this information by clicking here http://www.fco.gov.uk/travel/

Customer Service and Complaints
The contract for your cruise holiday is between you and the Supplier (e.g. cruise line) and if you have any complaints about any aspect of your cruise holiday then your complaints should be addressed directly to the supplier. If you have a complaint whilst you are on your cruise holiday it is strongly recommended you immedtately report the nature of the problem to the supplier or their local representatives. Frequently this can result in a quick resolution to the problem.
Failure to report such problems locally may negate any complaints or claims for compensation you might make after your cruise holiday.
Should you wish to make a complaint after your cruise holiday, send your complaint in writing directly to the Supplier.
Do not hesitate to contact us should you require any assistance with this.
