Port Review: Valparaiso

Valparaiso City Scene

Valparaiso is the most amazing place I have ever visited! From the ocean you see the city rise from the coast up into the hills.  It is an impressive sight with the Andes in the background and the skyscrapers of Vina del Mar just along the coast.

A work of art

If you get the chance you must take a local bus where you will get a real feel for Latin America.  It is not unusual for locals to play a guitar or sing along to the radio with the driver, you can even buy chocolates or empanadas from local sellers who jump on and off the buses!  The hillside buildings are in every colour you could imagine and the street art is fantastic.  Local artists buy wall space and even the steps on some of the streets have become the most impressive works of art!

There are many museums in this UNESCO world heritage city, all are worth a visit, the El Fonck museum in nearby Vina Del Mar is home to an Easter Island Moai and La Sebastiana Museum is the former home of famous poet and Nobel prize winner Pablo Neruda.

Wine Tours
Of course no visit to Chile would be complete without taking a wine tour and the Casablanca Valley is close by, the vineyards are beautiful and are worth a visit just for the scenery which is simply stunning.

Visit Modern Vina Del Mar - here you will find casino’s  luxury hotels, an abundance of bars and restaurants for all tastes, salsa clubs, open parks, shopping  and of course the beach.

There is so much to do in this diverse city.  It really is a place that will capture your heart.
