New Holland America Ship set to sail the Mediterranean
Currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyards near Venice, Holland America’s latest vessel, the Koningsdam, is set to sail itineraries in the Mediterranean for its maiden cruise season. The 2,650-passenger ship will debut on 20th February 2016 with a seven night voyage departing from Civitavecchia, Italy and visiting Dubrovnik, Kerkira, Katakolon and Naples. Following this maiden voyage the ship will offer 12 night sailings alternating between two itineraries around the Mediterranean taking in the highlights around Europe. Booking opens for these trips on 1st December 2014.
Port Everglades Terminal 4 upgrades approach completion
Terminal 4 at Port Everglades has received almost $24million worth of enhancements helping it to better serve the world’s largest cruise ships. There are new passenger pick up and drop off points, additional parking spaces and new check-in counters to accommodate more cruise passengers as ships increase in size. Port Everglades is one of the busiest cruise ports in the world and last year welcomed more than 4 million passegners.
Norwegian Epic to debut new entertainment line-up in 2015
Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled the new entertainment line-up for the award winning vessel Norwegian Epic. The ship, which was originally had its home port in Miami, will now be based in Europe all year around, with cruises departing from Barcelona. Dance Spectacular Burn the Floor will debut in 2015, having already wowed audiences on Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway. In October it will be joined by Tony award winning musical Priscilla, Queen of the Desert – The Musical. The show is based on the Oscar-winning movie about a group of three friends and their search for love as they travel the Australian outback in a van. There will also be a new venue on board - the Cavern is a recreation of the famous Liverpool club where the Beatles made their name and now a range of international musicians will take to its stage.
Majesty of the Seas to leave the Royal Caribbean Fleet
Royal Caribbean Cruises Limited has announced that veteran ship Majesty of the Seas is to depart the Royal Caribbean International brand to join the fleet of Pullmantur. She will sail her final voyage for Royal Caribbean International on 29 April 2016 before undergoing a major refit to bring it in line with the Pullmantur brand. The 2,350 passenger ship first launched in 1992 will add 20% to the capacity of the Pullmantur fleet.
