MSC Cruises unveils the name of its new ship
The first ship to be launched as part of MSC’s ‘Vista Project’ is to be called MSC Meraviglia as MSC Cruises aim to double the capacity of the fleet by 2022. The ship will carry 4,500 passengers and spend its inaugural season offering a number of itineraries throughout the Western Mediterranean. In an industry first, the ship will have three home ports – Barcelona, Marseille and Genoa. Construction began on Monday 20 April 2015 at the STX France shipyard in Saint Nazaire and the completed ship will be delivered in May 2017.
Norwegian Sky to become All-Inclusive
Starting in January 2016, Norwegian Cruise Line will extend their all-inclusive offering on board Norwegian Sky with unlimited beer, wine, spirits dining and entertainment as standard. The ship is home ported in Miami and spends the year offering three and four night round trips to the Bahamas. While guests can enjoy a huge variety of culinary experiences and amenities with this offering, there are still chances to upgrade and enjoy some more refined dining and spa treatments
Celebrity Cruises launches its World Class Bar
Following its refit, there’s a new bar on board Celebrity Eclipse specialising in premium cocktails alongside some spectacular showmanship. The World Class Bar can be found on Deck 5 and replaces the Molecular Bar. The new bar has been launched in partnership with Diageo Global Travel Americas who act as distributor for some of the world’s biggest liquor brands. World Class Bar will be rolled out across all Solstice-class ships before the end of the summer.
Anthem of the Seas launches at Southampton
Just in case you missed the news, Anthem of the Seas, the latest mega-liner form Royal Caribbean International, launched at a ceremony in Southampton. An array of dignitaries and specially invited guests gathered in the Royal Theater to hear the ship’s godmother, travel agent Emma Wilby, sing her rendition of Katy Perry’s Firework. Anthem of the Seas will spend the summer season offering Mediterranean cruises from Southampton before repositioning to its home port in New Jersey in October.
