This week was quite dry on the Cruise News front, but there have still been some stories that have made a splash this week, and we haven’t let it escape our radar. The most interesting news this week is from P&O, Royal Caribbean, Princess Cruises and Norwegian Cruises.
Harmony of the Seas - Our Newest Ship
Most people are obsessed with achievements and records, Royal Caribbean are no different with the world’s largest cruise ship title being won on multiple occasions. They will soon be crowned again with their newest addition, Harmony of the Seas.
As you can see, it is quite a monster, and we now have a page where you can read more about it on our website, here.
Princess Are Cooking Up Something Great With Their New Restaurant
A lot of cruise lines have been changing up their food menus to try and have the best menus on the open ocean, and Princess are no exception as they have enlisted the help of celebrity chef, Curtis Stone.
“Curtis Stone is an internationally-known chef, TV host, New York Times best-selling author and Chef-Owner of Maude in Beverly Hills. Born in Melbourne, Australia, Curtis first found his passion for food while watching his grandmother make her legendary fudge. After finishing culinary school, he headed to London, where he honed his skills under legendary three-star Michelin genius, Marco Pierre White.”
Each dish on the menus in the main dining room of all 18 of their cruise ships will feature dishes that will have been designed by chef Curtis. Furthermore, select Princess cruise ships will now feature the Share restaurant, “an elegant restaurant dedicated to a dining experience that encourages connecting with others”.
Norwegian Escape Escapes its Dry Dock.
And finally, our last news item for this week’s cruise news is the Norwegian Escape was floated out of its dry dock. This is great news because it means that we are ever closer to being able to test it out for ourselves. Its maiden voyage will be a cruise from Southampton to Miami on the 29th of October and we are looking forward to then because it has quite a few interesting features; such as its Snow Room, Tobacco Road (Miami’s oldest bar, now at sea) and an array of other great things to see and do!
