Cruise to the 2016 Open Championship at Royal Troon

The Open Celebrity Cruises

Golf’s Open Championship returns to Scotland in 2016 with the Major taking place once more at Royal Troon Golf Club. Celebrity Cruises are giving golf fans the opportunity to arrive in style with one of their Signature voyages. On board, golfers will have the opportunity to improve their game with the help of professionals before being transported to The Open to see some world-class golf and witness the victorious golfer lifting the famous Claret Jug.

The 12-night cruise departs from Amsterdam on 13 July and then takes a tour around the British Isles with a stop at Dover before arriving at Greenock, where passengers will be transported to one of the world’s most famous links courses to see the master golfers at work.

The Open was first staged on the South Ayrshire course in 1923 and has since hosted the event an additional seven times. The course last played host in 2004 when Todd Hamilton memorably defeated Ernie Els in a four-hole playoff and spectators will be hoping for a similar spectacle in 2016.

The world’s most skilful golfers will again take centre stage with Tiger Woods, Bubba Watson, Jordan Spieth, Sergio Garcia, Adam Scott, Justin Scott, Rory McIlroy all expected to  participate. They’ll line up alongside defending champion Zach Johnson, who won the tournament so dramatically at the 2015 British Open in St Andrews.

Even after The Open, golf fans will be able to learn more about their game with expert instruction from Steve Parry and two other professionals. They’ll be running golf clinics throughout the cruise meaning that any keen amateurs needing help with their swing or improving putting accuracy will have someone on hand with the skills and experience to better their game.

Following the main event, guests will then be able to enjoy some of the finest sites around the British Isles with stops in Liverpool, Cobh in Ireland, Guernsey and then on to Paris before disembarking at Amsterdam.

As well as enjoying all the great sporting action, passengers will be able to enjoy all the fine facilities on board Celebrity Silhouette. The 2,886-passenger vessel was launched in 2011 and features a range of relaxing amenities to help make any holiday memorable. The ship includes a number of lounges, several restaurants, spa, theatre and extensive shopping facilities. There are also plenty of sporting facilities on board including a fully equipped gym, fitness classes including Yoga and Pilates, a jogging track, and probably the most popular venue on this cruise – a putting green.
