Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest will enter dry dock in early 2016 as part of the "Reimagine Azamara" program. No area of the ships will remain untouched with every space being upgraded including the cabins, spa, public rooms and pool area. There will also be some new additions to the ship with Wi-Fi throughout and new dining options.
Larry Pimentel, president and chief executive of Azamara Club Cruises, said: “We are best known for our Land Discoveries programmes which have enabled us to boast an unprecedented number of repeat guest bookings as well as strong back to back voyage reservations. As we continue to evolve our destination immersive offerings, we also want to ensure our onboard experience is modernised to meet guests’ every need.
“Each corner of the ships will have a new look and feel, setting a brighter, more contemporary ambiance, while the new venues will bring guests fresh experiences. We’re also investing in new on board innovations and have paid close attention to the smallest of details. We really are redefining our on board experience in every way.”
Richard Twynam, managing director for the UK and Ireland, added: “Whilst our offerings for destination immersion have gone from strength to strength over the years, our ship upgrades signify a major investment by the brand to continue our commitment to enhancing guests' experiences of holidaying with us.”
The new décor will reflect the environment and will incorporate flowing water and earth tones inspired by the incredible destinations visited by these boutique ships. Renders of the new designs can be seen below.
Each of these cruise ships carries just 686-passengers and their relatively small size allows them to visit destinations larger ships cannot. Azamara Club Cruises has pioneered destination immersion trips and each cruise incorporates overnight stays allowing passengers to better experience the ports of call.
Both of these ships were launched in 2000 and joined the Azamara fleet when it launched in 2007 as a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. The upmarket cruise line offers voyages throughout the world with European destinations including the British Isles, French and Italian Rivieras, Greek Isles, as well as South America, Asia and the West Indies.
Azamara Journey will be the first to be upgraded going into dry dock in the Bahamas in January 2016 while Azamara Quest will receive its upgrades in Singapore in April 2016. Further details of the upgrades will be revealed throughout the summer.
