Destination Review: The French Riviera – sun, sea, sand and sophistication – the Cote d’Azur has it all.

The French Riviera

Situated  along the southeast coastline of France, at the point where the Alps meet the Mediterranean, the French Riviera is one of the most alluring coasts in the Mediterranean. With azure blue seas, golden beaches, stylish boutiques and a wonderfully mild to warm climate, it’s no wonder cruising along this flawless coastline is so popular.

Highlights of the chic ports of call

Chic and captivating Cannes is the very pretty indeed. Take a stroll along the Boulevard de la Croisette, where you’ll find deluxe hotels, luxury casinos, stylish boutiques and the turquoise blue marina, packed with mega-yachts. Retrace the red carpet steps taken by the stars at the Cannes Film Festival, or for a special holiday, step into the world of Hollywood royalty and star-spot on one our Film Festival cruises.

Monte Carlo

Glitzy and glamorous Monte Carlo is the party playground of the rich and famous. Be prepared to be amazed by the opulence and breathtakingly beautiful surroundings. Join the elite and sip a champagne cocktail in one of the many waterfront bars, gaze in awe at the luxury yachts moored in the harbour and take a walk through the medieval village known as “The Rock” in the heart of Monte Carlo.

Of course no visit would be complete without a visit to the luxurious Grand Casino and to see the legendary racing circuit of the prestigious Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. Why not experience the exhilaration and excitement of the famous race on one of our Grand Prix cruises?

The Queen of the Riviera, Nice is picture-perfect and home to colourful buildings, palm fringed boulevards and spectacular views.  Soak up the stunning views from the Promenade des Anglais, take in the scents of the Nice flower markets and head to the heart of the city, the cobbled square, Place Rosetti and enjoy the world-famous Fennochios’s ice-cream. Nice is a very popular port of call and features on many cruise itineraries.

Saint Tropez

For a little Ooh la la, visit totally over the top but utterly fabulous St Tropez. Stroll along the harbour and marvel at the many yachts, enjoy a little window shopping on the elite Rue Gambetta or enjoy catch of the day and a glass of Rose, in the old fishing quarter. Pick some herbes de Provence or some fragrant lavender at one of the local shops, for lasting memories and to add a little joie de vivre to your home.
