I had the privilege to experience Infinity after the magnificent “solsticizing” process. In 2011, Infinity went into drydock for a full refurbishment. First thoughts of Infinity include: sophisticated, beautiful and immaculate.
I’m not easily impressed and it takes a lot to wow me. I thought the ship was beautifully presented and attention detail wasn’t missed. My favourite areas of the ship: modern gymnasium and indoor solarium. The Martini Bar was refurbished to the new version, with a shaved ice-topped bar and juggling bartenders. This is the main area for pre-dinner drinks.
The food on-board Infinity was outstanding. I really enjoyed the main dining room experience. The menu was plentiful. The waiting staff were attentive and courteous – I requested to have a main course as a starter and this was granted. The five star qualities were shining in the main dining room. Everyone at my table had clean plates each night. I must mention the pool snacks were also delicious! The offer mouth-watering burgers throughout the day. There are options to eat in the speciality restaurants.
Qsine is like no other restaurant. As soon as you walk in you are welcomed by your culinary tour guide. The menu is an iPad and this makes the experience even more enjoyable. The décor is tasteful and quirky. It has a real modern feel to it.
The steak was unbelievably good! One of the best steaks I've ever eaten. Dessert, the Tombstone, was chocolate heaven. This restaurant is a wrecking ball for any dieters – you will leave extremely full! Word of warning – don’t eat all day so you can enjoy an evening of world tasting! Make a reservation! You won't be sorry.
Bistro on Five was also a favourite. For just $5 per person you get made-to-order crepes in a casual environment with no reservations needed. Nearby Café al Bacio and Gelateria serves speciality coffee and Italian ice-cream for an extra charge.
The overall décor is very tasteful. Each deck is lavishly finished in wood and marble. Many expensive pieces of artwork are displayed thought out the ship. I also enjoyed using the modern I-Lounge facilities – great way to keep in touch with family back home. My stateroom was spacious and comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised with the bathroom space.
The kids club on Infinity was outstanding. I couldn't believe how much choice was offered to all age groups. All staff have childcare degrees and are qualified in first aid. The teen area turns into a mini night club most evenings!
The overall cruise was outstanding. I can’t wait to sail with Celebrity again.
