Cruise & Maritime Voyages' Magellan arrived at the port of Dundee yesterday (29 March 2015) before setting off on its maiden voyage, a week-long tour exploring the Norwegian Fjords. Carrying 1,250 passengers, Magellan is the largest ship in Cruise & Maritime Voyages fleet, becoming the flagship when it began sailing for the line in early 2015. The ship will become a regular visitor to Dundee over the coming season as this newly refurbished port provides the perfect gateway to the spectacular sites of the north.
The Tay waterfront underwent a significant regeneration over recent years and Cruise & Maritime Voyages have become the first cruise line to see the potential of the port and it’s expected many more ships will follow. The people of Dundee were impressed to see the ship in the port many shared images on Twitter.
The ship looked particularly spectacular at night before departing the Tay at around 2200.
Scottish travel photographer Dougie Baird created this video, showing the impressive ship up close as while docked in port.
