With it being Black Friday, we almost didn’t get this out because we’ve been very busy. However, we could never forget about you - our loyal audience! Here it is again, our Friday Cruise News blog informing you of all the most interesting goings on in the cruise industry this week. This week we have announcements from Royal Caribbean, ourselves and even Greenock Ocean Terminal.
Greenock Ocean Terminal to Receive £14million Investment
We are going to start here because this is good news for Scottish cruising as Greenock Ocean Terminal is one of Scotland’s biggest ports and it will only become more so after the £14million investment.
The money will contribute to more expansive cruise and cargo berths, as well as creating and supporting local jobs. Inverclyde Council Leader Stephen McCabe commented, “With the expansion of the quayside and development of a new visitor facility, Greenock Ocean Terminal can continue to be a major economic and tourist boost locally in Inverclyde and in Scotland.”

Royal Caribbean Try New Approach to Reach Millennials
This week, passengers in the New York subway system were privy to something that hasn’t happened before (from a cruise standpoint anyway) and experienced adverts for Royal Caribbean like they had never seen before.
There were adverts shown on the interactive billboard in the subway that displayed videos that were being taken via Periscope (Twitter’s live streaming app). The ‘Come Seek Live’ ad campaign used travel bloggers and YouTube stars, amongst others, to take videos that would be streamed using Periscope to these billboards. The point was to demonstrate what you could do on your next Royal Caribbean cruise holiday, and also to ‘challenge stereotypes of cruising, tourism and the Caribbean’.
