So many different ways to get inspired. So many new experiences. So many exciting activities to uncover.
We were delighted to spend a night aboard the UK Launch of Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest cruise ship, Norwegian Escape in Southampton last week. Escape is the first ship in Norwegian’s Breakaway Plus Class, coming in a whopping 163,000 gross tonnes and housing 4,248 passengers. Sailing from Miami year-round, Escape will cruise the Eastern and Western Caribbean visiting idyllic islands like St. Thomas, Tortola and Nassau in the Bahamas, Mexico’s Cozumel and Roatán in Honduras and even Harvest Caye, Norwegian’s new private Caribbean island in Belize.
Escape to dazzling entertainment
Norwegian Escape features two Tony Award-winning Broadway musicals. Headlining in the Escape Theatre, After Midnight is the smash-hit musical that combines the big-band songs of Duke Ellington, a roof-raising onstage jazz band and the best dancing from Broadway. We got our dancing shoes on for Million Dollar Quartet, inspired by the famed recording session that brought together rock 'n' roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins.
Escape to days of fun
Escape is perfect for cruising the sunny Caribbean with a sensational pool deck and upbeat activities including; the largest ropes course at sea, an elaborate three-storey complex of some 99 heart-pounding challenges, and even a bowling alley! Then there’s the Aqua Park with four multi-story water slides. But for those who like to relax and take it easy; the luxurious and tranquil Mandara Spa® with its salt room, first-time-at-sea snow room and menu of pampering, exotic spa treatments.
Escape to more quality family time
Having young families, we were particularly interested in seeing the kids clubs on board, Splash Academy and Entourage. We could picture great family fun on the new tube slide and getting drenched by the water cannons, at the new interactive Kids’ Aqua Park. If you’re a family who love to have lots going on and lots of family entertainment day and night, then we thoroughly recommend Norwegian Escape.
Escape to the next level of Freestyle Dining
As real “foodies”, Norwegian Cruise Line has always been appealing because of its wonderful range of speciality restaurants. The Escape also offers new gourmet dining concepts; award-winning Jose Garces, 2 restaurants, showcase his signature Latin American and Spanish fusion cuisine. Food Republic offering small-plate global cuisine for tasting and sharing. The District Brew House in partnership with Miami’s Wynwood Brewing Company is a hip, urban craft beer hall serving gastropub-style snacking plates.
Escape to inner peace
For those of you who like to like to take it slow and completely chill out on holiday, we recommend the serene and stylish Spa Staterooms, you’ll enjoy access to the Mandara Spa, complete with sauna, hydrotherapy pools and more. We were very lucky to have own sanctuary at the top of the ship in The Haven by Norwegian, an exclusive enclave with the most luxurious, well-appointed accommodation…if you’re celebrating a special occasion, then this is the cabin for you…go on treat yourself!
Escape, seize the day and socialise
We loved the hustle and bustle of 678 Ocean Place, the famous frozen margarita’s in Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville at Sea…were delicious! And the award-winning musicals were sensational!
So, if you’re looking for 24/7 entertainment, global cuisine combined with lots of space and time to relax in the Caribbean sunshine….you’ll have it all on Norwegian Escape.
