Day 7 - Naples

Arrive: Mon 07 November 2016 / Depart: Mon 07 November 2016

Naples is the perfect gateway to visit picturesque Sorrento and the historical ruins of Pompeii. Sorrento was once a favourite resort to the Romans and evidence of their wealth can be found around every corner. Explore the imposing Duomo with its distinctive 13 th century cloister and the charming flower filled town. For a poignant taste of Roman history visit the ruins of Pompeii, a once prosperous city now frozen in time. Now it is preserved by the very thing that destroyed its flourishing civilisation, the ash of the mighty volcano, Vesuvius.

Day 8 - Messina,Sicily

Arrive: Tue 08 November 2016 / Depart: Tue 08 November 2016

The island of Sicily is separated from Italy by the Strait of Messina, and retains an air of independence from its motherland. Messina, has wide avenues, a stunning harbour and is located close to the classical ruins of Tindari and the ancient city of Taormina. A mountainous and rugged land, Sicily is dominated by Europe's largest volcano, Mt. Etna. With four live craters around its summit, this is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

Day 9 - At Sea

Day 10 - Athens (Piraeus)

Arrive: Thu 10 November 2016 / Depart: Thu 10 November 2016

The Acropolis – ‘High City' - will always be the top attraction from Athens' cruise port Piraeus. With its 2,500-year-old Parthenon, temple to Poseidon and Athena, Odeon of Herodus Atticus and Theatre of Dionysus, it quite literally stands out as an oasis of calm in the frenetic Greek capital. As part of the major revamp the city had for the 2004 Olympics, 400 modern buildings were cleared from the ancient meeting place next to the Acropolis, the Agora, which was then restored and linked by walkways to the Acropolis, Hadrian's Arch, the Academy of Plato and the Monastery of Daphne. Other nearby ancient sites include the Roman Tower of the Winds and the Hill of the Muses where Socrates is said to have drunk hemlock. Below the Acropolis is the fun place to shop or barter, eat moussaka or Greek salad, drink wine or ouzo and, of course, to people-watch: the 3,000-year-old Plaka.

Day 11 - Kusadasi

Arrive: Fri 11 November 2016 / Depart: Fri 11 November 2016

Now a popular Turkish cruise port, Kusadasi was once a sleepy fishing village until the extraordinary ruins of the ancient city of Ephesus were discovered nearby. Rivalling Pompeii, these are a must-see but try to find the time to explore pretty Kusadasi and discover Kaleici, its charming old quarter, which lies close to the cruise port.

Day 12 - Rhodes

Arrive: Sat 12 November 2016 / Depart: Sat 12 November 2016

Rhodes is an island with history in abundance. Years ago, this is where the mighty Colossus, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, bestrode the entrance to the pretty harbour. Since then, Roman and Moor, Venetian and Persian, Turk and Greek have controlled the island. Now, understandably, it has a cosmopolitan feel. Visit the soaring Acropolis at Lindos. Stroll the medieval old town. Explore the Palace of the Grand Masters. Or simply relax on one of its many beautiful beaches.

Day 13 - At Sea

Day 14 - Valletta

Arrive: Mon 14 November 2016 / Depart: Mon 14 November 2016

The new cruise port in the grand harbour of Maltese capital Valletta is an impressive introduction to this fascinating Mediterranean island. Late medieval and baroque architecture abound in this UNESCO World Heritage Site with its ancient city walls, many churches and palaces. Fort St Elmo, created by the Knights of St John and once the most impregnable in the world, houses in its National War Museum the famous George Cross that was awarded to Malta during World War II to mark the bravery of the besieged islanders.

Day 15 - At Sea

Day 16 - At Sea

Day 17 - Lisbon

Arrive: Thu 17 November 2016 / Depart: Thu 17 November 2016

Lisbon was once the most powerful and wealthy city in the world, thanks to the efforts of Portugal's seafaring explorers. The evidence remains in its lavish palaces and monasteries, crammed with imperial treasures.
