Somehow it survives built on a series of wooden poles that sink deep into the mud and flowing water of the Adriatic underneath the city. World-renowned city of canals and bridges. These facilitate internal transportation and have a beauty and charm that draw countless visitors each year. The modern city embraces the whole 90-mile (145-kilometer) perimeter of the lagoon and includes ten principal islands in addition to those of the mother city and two industrial boroughs of Mestre and Marghera on the mainland.

Santorini thanks to its extraordinary beauty, Santorini is one of the major tourist attractions of Europe. The island group of Santorini is the most known and active volcanic centre of the Hellenic Volcanic Arc in the south Aegean Sea. Two million years of volcanic activity have accumulated around a small non-volcanic basement that once formed a small island similar to the other Cyclades islands. Most of the volcanic layers are visible in the multi-coloured sequences of the impressive steep inner walls of the caldera.

Day 4 - Mykonos

Arrive: Tue 29 August 2017 at 20:00

Mykonos has become the most famous and consequently the most popular of the Cyclades Islands and is visited by nearly one million tourists every year. This has been thanks to its treasures of natural beauty, rich history and cosmopolitan character. The island is relatively small and therefore it is easy to explore. The capital of the island is Mykonos Town (Hora), which has a colourful harbour and it is considered one of the most beautiful towns on the island due to its archetypal island-postcard image.

DUBROVNIK is the capital of South Dalmazia and reputed to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. Many writers and travellers remain astonished by its charm, defining the town as the ‘Adriatic Pearl', the ‘Slav Athen': a true paradise on Earth.

Day 7 - Italy (Ancona)

Arrive: Fri 01 September 2017 at 10:00 / Depart: Fri 01 September 2017 at 18:00

Ancona is a provincial capital of the Marche region, not quite midway down the Adriatic coast of Italy. The harbour, originally protected only by the elbow-shaped promontory from which the city takes its name (Greek angkon, elbow), has modern installations built since World War II, including a petroleum refinery. Although Ancona's importance as a port has diminished, it is a busy market centre, with ships plying between Italian and Croatian ports on the Adriatic. The town is finely situated on and between the slopes of the two extremities of the promontory of Monte Conero, Monte Astagno to the South, occupied by the citadel, and Monte Guasco to the North, on which the cathedral stands. The latter, dedicated to S. Ciriaco, is said to occupy the site of a temple of Venus, who is mentioned by Catullus and Juvenal as the tutelary deity of the place. After the fall of the Roman empire Ancona was successively attacked by the Goths, Lombards and Saracens, but recovered its strength and importance. It was one of the cities of the Pentapolis under the exarchate of Ravenna.
