La Coruña is the principal town of the northern Spanish province of Galicia. Stroll along the seafront promenade and discover the medieval churches and baroque palaces of the old town. San Anton castle served to defend the entrance to the city against assaults from the sea and The Tower of Hercules, built by the Romans in the 2nd century A.D, is the oldest working lighthouse in the world. If time permits, visit the preserved medieval pilgrimage town of Santiago de Compostela with its narrow streets, spacious squares and splendid architecture.
