Longyearbyen is located in the Advent fjord, half way along the south side of the dramatic Isfjorden, on the west coast of Spitzbergen. A former coal mining settlement, Longyearbyen is now the largest research centre in the High Arctic with a population of around 1100 people. Discover the wonderful surrounding scenery and spot Arctic terns that nest throughout the scattered settlement.

Standing on an island in a narrow sound, hemmed in by soaring mountains, Tromso offers a majestic setting for the Northern Lights Observatory, Polaria, a fascinating polar adventure and exhibition centre, and also museums dedicated to geology, zoology and Lapland life.

This pretty village nestles at the tip of perhaps Norway’s most photographed, if not most renowned, fjord. The voyage along the fjord passing such famous waterfalls as De Syv Søstre (The Seven Sisters) is spectacular whilst Geiranger has a charm all of its own.

The second city of Norway and this delightful old Hanseatic port, with its beautifully restored wooden warehouses, colourful fish and flower market, makes a perfect contrast to the high peaks, waterfalls and small village communities of the fjords.
