Booked a fly and cruise holiday in January for October 2014 with my boyfriend. We flew to Barcelona for a few days catching up with friends prior to embarking on our cruise of the Mediterranean. It was his first time on a cruise ship and he has said that he was apprehensive as to whether we would be the youngest people on the ship – both in our late 20’s.
We booked a stateroom with a balcony, it was small but had plenty of storage as well as usual facilities - tv, mini bar, toiletries. We are so glad we booked a cabin with a balcony, as we spent many a night sat out with a bottle of wine, enjoying the stars – very romantic.
Food was excellent; we didn’t pay extra to eat in any of the speciality restaurants as we were so impressed by the standard of food in the main dining areas.
We didn’t go to any of the shows or entertainment on board, not because there was anything wrong with it –we were actually told by many passengers that it was very good – we just preferred to have a walk along deck, enjoy a few cocktails, and then retreat to our balcony!
We went on an excursion during our first day at port, however we didn’t feel this was good value for the money we paid. We instead decided to do our own thing from then on, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
We may have been amongst the youngest on the cruise but over all we both had a great time – my boyfriend, who loved the variety of food on board, may have caught the cruise bug!
