From April 2015, Diamond Princess will spend four months sailing from the home ports of Tokyo and Kobe in Japan with 20 departures offering a mix of itineraries taking in destinations in Japan, Taiwan, Korea and Russia. Highlights include Okinawa, Taipei, Hualien, Aomori, Otaru and Hakata.There are a range of durations available from three to ten nights allowing those with limited vacation time to enjoy the cultural delights on offer.

Food & Drink

There are five main dining rooms on board each offering the same varied menu but with the choice to choose from traditional set seating or opt for the more flexible anytime dining. In addition there are a number of speciality restaurants on board including the premium the Sterling Steakhouse, Italian eatery Sabatini’s, and Japanese specialists Kai Sushi offer an a la carte Sushi menu. For a more relaxed dining experience then guests can enjoy self-service buffet options at the Horizon Court.

There are plenty of bars of lounges where guests can relax and enjoy the fine ocean .Crooners Martini Bar is an intimate venue with an atmosphere is enhanced by the resident pianist. The Wheelhouse Bar has the atmosphere of a tradition cruise lounge and has nautical themed decoration. Churchill’s Cigar Lounge provides a space for those who like to smoke and features screens showing live sport.

Entertainment

There are a number of entertainment options to keep guests amused throughout the duration of the cruise.

There are plenty of games of chance available in the Grand Casino on deck six with a range of table games including blackjack and roulette accompanied by a number of electronic slot machines.

The Princess Theater stages full production musical shows to enthral audiences. Cruises departing from Japanese ports often incorporate native entertainers performing shows in both English and Japanese as well as traditional Japanese storytellers.

Explorers Lounge is an alternative entertainment venue in the evenings and plays host to comedians and live music.

Movies Under the Stars creates an enchanting environment to enjoy a first run movies. Guests can relax, watching the big screen on the loungers while the crew bring blankets and popcorn to help them relax. On Diamond Princess these alternate between English and Japanese films.

There are a variety of dance styles available in the evenings with Latin music in Club Fusion while the DJ provides a modern beat in Skywalker’s Nightclub.

As you might expect of a ship accommodating a large contingent of travellers from Japan, Karaoke is a mainstay in one of the lounges on most nights of the cruise.

Activities

There’s an array of sporting equipment on board with a nine-hole putting course, a swim-against-the-current lap pool, a well-equipped gym and fitness area as well as the traditional cruise pursuit of shuffleboard.

Throughout the day there are activities available in all of the lounges with trivia quizzes offered up to four times a day. There are also a range of tournaments utilising all the facilities on board with table tennis, poker and putting all on offer.

There are plenty of enriching activities to be found on a Diamond Princess cruise with a well-stocked library, a number of art exhibits and classes provided under the Scholarship@Sea programme. Guests can learn a range of disciplines including dance, photography, art and languages including English and Japanese. 

The Lotus Spa complex has a Japanese-inspired décor and offers a range of treatments in the ocean-view treatment rooms including shiatsu massages, reflexology and full body wraps.
