In 2015 Cunard will celebrate its 175th anniversary and to mark this momentous occasion they are offering some amazing anniversary cruises and events. Ahead of the main Cunard programme launch there will be 5 unique cruises available to book giving you the opportunity to be part of these very special celebrations!

The celebrations begin as all three Cunard Queens meet in Southampton on 3rd May 2015 upon their return from their World Cruises. All three ships will then make their way to a rendezvouz in Liverpool producing the spectacular vision of all three Cunard ships together on the Mersey for the very first time in the Cruise Line’s history!

Queen Mary 2 will also make Cunard history with the re-creation of Britannia’s Original 1840 Transatlantic sailing and there will be a commemorative sailing on board Queen Victoria to mark the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of the Lusitania and remembering all who lost their lives in the 1st World War.

On 3rd May 2015 Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria will sail into Southampton together marking the end of their World Cruises and will depart later that day in formation. This will be the first time that the Flagship Queen Mary 2 will lead the fleet out of Southampton in daylight hours!

After this rendezvous in Southampton, Queen Victoria will depart on her ‘Lusitania Remembered’ voyage, Queen Mary 2 will head for New York and Queen Elizabeth will set sail for Northern Europe

‘Lusitania Remembered’

On the 7th May 2015 it will be exactly 100 years since the Cunard flagship Lusitania was torpedoed and sank 14 miles off the old Head of Kinsale in Ireland while making her journey from New York to Liverpool. Over the course of the First World War Cunard lost a total of 22 ships and this special 7 night Queen Victoria cruise will commemorate everyone who lost their lives over the course of this war. Calling at Cobh (formerly Queenstown) a special service will be held ashore, open to all passengers onboard.

Liverpool Salute

Cunard was founded in the city of Liverpool and it was home to the company’s Head Office for over 125 years. The magnificent Cunard building on the Pier Head makes up one third of the World-Heritage-listed ‘Three Graces’. On Monday 25 May 2015 all three ships of the Cunard fleet will line up on the Mersey to ‘Salute’ the city in a spectacle that is expected to draw huge crowds. This will be the first time ever that the entire fleet has been on the Mersey.

175th Anniversary Sailing

Cunard’s Britannia was the first ship ever to offer regularly-scheduled transatlantic sailings and since it’s inauguration Cunard ships have continued to cross the Atlantic, time and time again. On 4th July 2015 Cunard’s current flagship Queen Mary 2 will recreate history when she sets sail from Liverpool to New York on the same journey Britannia undertook 175 years earlier to the day.

This voyage has created much excitement since it’s initial announcement and demand is expected to be high as this will also be the first time since January 1968 that a Cunard ship has departed from Liverpool for America!
Whether choosing to join in Southampton or Liverpool, passengers will themselves become a part of Cunard’s illustrious history.
