Make sure you pack your walking shoes for Edinburgh. Stroll along the medieval Royal Mile to the Palace of Holyroodhouse to see the abbey and Queen Mary's chambers. Savour the old town's marvelous Georgian and Victorian architecture. Marvel at the impressive Edinburgh Castle, high on its volcanic crag with a fabulous view. Visit St. Giles' Cathedral where John Knox once preached. Leave enough time to rest your legs at one of Edinburgh's seaside restaurants to enjoy fresh salmon, scallops, lamb and prime Angus beef.

They call this city ‘Capital of the Scottish Highlands’ and the chances are you will want to get out of town for a look at some of Britain’s most spectacular scenery. Close by is Loch Ness – handy for a little monster spotting – and if history’s more your thing, there’s Cawdor Castle and Culloden Moor battlefield. And who could resist the ‘Scottish Whisky Trail’?

Everyone seems to love Bergen for its magnificent natural harbour, neatly tucked into steep hills and backed by mountains, and its enchanting Bryggen quarter. Here, beside the harbour and the busy fish market are narrow lanes of brightly painted, tall wooden houses, dating from the time when Bergen was an important Hanseatic trading port.

Old Ã…lesund was destroyed by a devastating fire in 1904, then rebuilt in a kind of eccentric art nouveau style with spires and turrets atop lavish facades decorated with dragons, flowers and scenes from Norwegian legends. Enjoy a stroll around, visit the art nouveau museum and take in the panorama of the town and offshore islands from the park beneath Mount Aksla.

You came to the fjords for scenery, right? Well, here you have it. Hellesylt – incredibly an important port in Viking days – is now a tiny village tucked beneath a cliff at the head of Geirangerfjord with a thundering waterfall at its centre. While Geiranger must be one of Norway’s most photogenic settlements with colourful houses on the waterfront and a backdrop of rolling hills. And as for the fjord itself, think sheer cliffs, waterfalls, unspoilt valleys and beautiful views at every turn.
Arrive: Sat 14 August 2021 / Depart: Sat 14 August 2021
A quaint village nestled in a valley in western Norway, Geiranger grants a respite to remember. Visitors come from all over to explore the fjord and its gorgeous views of nearby waterfalls, mountainscapes and charming farms.

In recent years, Reykjavik has made something of a name for itself as a trend-setting city and the edgy shops and bars bear this out. But it still doesn’t detract from the big ticket here – the scenery. Glaciers and geysers, mountains and waterfalls give away Iceland’s volcanic origins and create the mysterious, romantic landscapes that inspired ancient Icelandic sagas.
