Balestrand is a village in Sogndal Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the northern shore of the Sognefjorden, at the mouth of the small Esefjorden. It sits about 20 kilometres west of the village area of Leikanger-Hermansverk and about 7 kilometres northwest of the village of Vangsnes.

Geiranger is a village in western Norway, at the head of Geirangerfjord. The Norwegian Fjord Center has multimedia on the history of the region and its inhabitants. Part of the steep Trollstigen mountain road weaves through the village, connecting to Flydalsjuvet lookout, which has views over the fjord. The fjord’s waterfalls, including the Seven Sisters, the Suitor and the Bridal Veil, are visible by boat.

Ålesund is a port town on the west coast of Norway, at the entrance to the Geirangerfjord. It’s known for the art nouveau architectural style in which most of the town was rebuilt after a fire in 1904, as documented at the Jugendstilsenteret museum. There are panoramic views of Ålesund’s architecture, the surrounding archipelago and fjords from the Mount Aksla lookout.

Day 12 - Stockholm

Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, encompasses 14 islands and more than 50 bridges on an extensive Baltic Sea archipelago. The cobblestone streets and ochre-colored buildings of Gamla Stan (the old town) are home to the 13th-century Storkyrkan Cathedral, the Kungliga Slottet Royal Palace and the Nobel Museum, which focuses on the Nobel Prize. Yaroslavl is a Russian city, northeast of Moscow. It's part of the Golden Ring group of ancient towns. On the grounds of the 12th-century Spaso-Preobrazhensky (Savior Transfiguration) Monastery, the golden-domed Transfiguration Church has 16th-century frescoes. Collections at the Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve include 16th- to 18th-century icons. Multicolored glazed tiles cover the Church of the Epiphany’s exterior.

Uglich is a town in west Russia. The grounds of its Kremlin citadel surround the green-domed Transfiguration Cathedral, which has an ornate wall of icons.
