Fred Olsen Cruise Lines have departures from a wide range of UK Ports and have different facilities at each for those with impaired mobility.
Boarding facilities with Fred Olsen for those with limited or impaired mobility varies across each UK Port.
|Avonmouth||Ships gangway (approx. 35 steps). Guests must be able to walk up the steps.|
|Dover||Air-bridge is available into the ship on both berths|
|Greenock||Shore side gangway – slope|
|Liverpool||Ships gangway. There is a mini bus service down to the gangway for guests that cannot walk the distance, again guests must be able to walk up steps|
|Newcastle||Shore-side gangway slope|
|Rosyth||Shore-side gangway with steps (albeit not proper steps, just ramps in middle of gangway) approximately 55 steps but can be extremely steep. Guests must be able to walk up the steps.|
|Southampton||Air-bridge is available 90% of the time. On days where there are 5 ships in Port Fred Olsen may be allocated the marquee berth resulting in a shore-side gangway, one side of which is a slope and the other steps (approx. 45 steps, and depending on the tide this can be steep)|
Guests that book a wheelchair for ship and tour use are issued with RED forms (numbered) at check-in for assistance to their cabins, (bearing in mind that for ports with step gangways they MUST be able to walk up them).
Guests that book wheelchair for tour use only are issued with a YELLOW form (numbered) at check-in for assistance to the top of the gangway, where their wheelchair will be taken and put into storage until a port day.
Guests that just require assistance to board are issued with a PINK form (numbered) and are given assistance to the gangway, either just an arm or a wheelchair depending on what they need. This is not a pre-bookable service there are porters on standby to assist.
It is important to note that unless there is an air-bridge or suitable slope gangway, Fred Olsen staff will NOT be permitted to carry guests up the gangway for Health & Safety Reasons.
