Porto is a beautiful and historic city with much to offer. I was surprised at how great the shopping was in Porto, it’s not only great for luxury and high street brands but also offers quirky and bustling markets. I would just love to go back and explore more.
People watching – University students in their traditional university gowns wander around the streets in black capes which denote their status. That’s right, capes. This is how JK Rowling introduced the “cape” for her famous Harry Potter books. This city is great for people watching.
UNESCO World Heritage Site – You must visit the Ribiera Old District located along the Douro River. It has lots of charming houses, cafes and restaurants. The Porto Cathedral in its Baroque Gothic style is also worth a visit in the historical centre.
My recommendation – Enjoy the famous port wines of the Duoro Valley on a shore excursion to one of the popular wineries.
Porto is a hidden gem and definitely worth a visit.
