Day 1 - Dubrovnik

Look out in particular for the Onofrio Fountain and the nearby Franciscan Monastery with the third oldest pharmacy in Europe. And don't miss the old medieval Sponza Palance, St Blaises Church and the Cathedral.

Day 4 - Catania, Sicily

On the coast in the south of the country, Split is old and beautiful, welcoming and varied. Day 11 - Zadar, Croatia

Zadar doesn’t put age before beauty, it offers them both at the same time. This Dalmatian city on the Adriatic Coast is one of the oldest in Europe, and its timeline can be traced back more than 3,000 years. Having said that, it’s more than a little easy on the eye. The traffic-free streets are paved in pearly marble, its town houses are topped with red roofs, and the city is dotted with ancient Roman ruins and historical churches.

Day 12 - Ancona

As you drift into Ancona’s bustling harbour, you’ll have front-row views of the town’s historic landmarks.
