Syracuse (Italy) was one of Sicily’s most prestigious cities and at the height of its splendour competed with Athens. Visiting Syracuse is like stepping back in time to plunge oneself into the fabulous history of Sicily. Since its role as a central city of ancient Greece, numerous civilisations have followed one another to these shores, each leaving their mark. Arabs, Romans, Normans, Byzantines and Spanish influences give Syracuse its extraordinarily rich culture, a mosaic of perfumes, colours and flavours.

Day 3 - Otranto

Arrive: Sat 15 May 2027 / Depart: Sat 15 May 2027

Almost on the tip of the heel of Italy’s boot lies the peaceful town of Otranto. A Greek and Roman city, it was also one of the most important centres of Byzantine culture in the Middle Ages. Cradled in the curve of a natural bay of crystal clear water, this small borough is the perfect spot for lazing around or going for a swim.

Day 4 - Kotor

Arrive: Sun 16 May 2027 / Depart: Sun 16 May 2027

The lovely fortified town of Kotor (Montenegro) is located at the end of a complex series of bays surrounded by limestone massifs in a magnificent region of Montenegro. An impressive city wall conceals the alleyways and palaces of a well preserved edieval centre which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Day 5 - Dubrovnik

Arrive: Mon 17 May 2027 / Depart: Mon 17 May 2027

Known throughout the world as the Pearl of the Adriatic, the walled city of Dubrovnik (Croatia) built on a rock has preserved all its Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque monuments. Long considered as a rival to Venice, traces of its illustrious past are to be found throughout the city.

Day 6 - Vis, Croatia

Arrive: Tue 18 May 2027 / Depart: Tue 18 May 2027

Vis is a Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea, off the Dalmatian Coast. In Vis town, parts of the ancient city walls remain, along with a thermae (public bath). Levaman Fortress houses the Archaeological Museum, with exhibits including a 4th-century-B.C. bronze head of the goddess Artemis and amphorae recovered offshore. On a small peninsula, St. Jerome’s Church and Monastery is built over an ancient Roman theater.

Day 7 - Piran

Arrive: Wed 19 May 2027 / Depart: Wed 19 May 2027

Cultural centre of the Slovenian Riviera, the small yet perfectly-formed town of Piran has preserved a medieval atmosphere with its narrow streets and closely packed houses rising in steps from the shore to the top of the hill. A typically Mediterranean view.

Day 8 - Venice, Italy

Arrive: Thu 20 May 2027

Proud and eternal, Venice has reigned on its lagoon ever since the 6th century. You may think you know this city before even setting foot here. You will inevitably fall in love with the charm of the innumerable treasures of the Serenissima: Saint Mark’s square, the basilica, Doges palace, the Grand Canal and the gondolas. Yet, secret Venice is also waiting for you to explore its little interlacing streets and canals, to ramble through its squares and to push open the doors of its churches. The city’s extraordinary heritage shouldn’t stop you from enjoying a glass of Spritz and a few tramezzini.
