Cruises to Réunion Island

Sitting in the vast Indian Ocean Réunion Island between Madagascar and Mauritius, Réunion Island is a French overseas department. This means you can enjoy conveniences common closer to home, such as paying in Euros, blinding in with the local creole cuisine and culture, all while taking in the stunningly unique landscapes.

Cruise lines sailing to Reunion are typically luxury ships, including Azamara, Oceania, Silversea and Regent Seven Seas, due to their smaller size allowing them to access more niche ports of call found throughout Madagascar, the Seychelles and Mauritius. However, larger vessels, such as P&O Cruises, Cunard and Royal Caribbean, do also stop by, typically as part of a wider Indian Ocean or Asia sailing or even World Cruise.

Réunion Island ports of call

Le Port (Port de Pointe des Galets) is the main cruise port serving the Reunion. The capital of Saint-Denis is 20 minutes away by car while transport and tours can be easily taken from this hub to explore the wider island's points of interest, such as the active volcano of Piton de la Fournaise, mountains, waterfalls, black-sand beaches, coral reefs and lagoons, perfect for hikers and swimmers. A stop off in a local creole village is a must on the way too to try the local cuisine and grab a hand-made memento, or take a boat tour to go whale watching between June and October.

Cruises from Réunion Island

Due to its size and location, Reunion Island is typically only accessible as a port of call, but there are occasionally cruises from Le Port (Pointe des Galets). The majority of sailings heading to Reunion depart form POrt Louise (Mauritius), while Cape Town and Dubai also serve as homeports with frequent itineraries to the Indian Ocean, taking in Reunion, Madagascar and even the Seychelles.

Departure ports typically with cruises to Réunion Island:

  • Le Port (Réunion)
  • Port Louis (Mauritius)
  • Cape Town (South Africa)
  • Port Victoria (Seychelles)
  • Dubai
  • Singapore
  • Southampton (as as Repositional or World Cruise from the UK)

Top Cruise Travel Agency, especially Elise

We’ve used a few cruise travel agents over the years & have never had such great & attentive service that Cruisekings provide. We deal with Elise Jones, or should I say Elise looks after us so well. Her attention to detail is great & she’s so fast to respond. We thoroughly recommend Elise & Cruisekings, their customer service is also excellent.
