Do cruise ships have Internet access and WiFi?
Most cruise lines do now offer onboard Wi-Fi but this will almost always incur additional fees so do check with your operator before travelling. Learn more below
As we become more connected in our day to day lives more and more Cruise Lines are beginning to realise just how important internet access is no matter where we are in the world.
Most cruise lines will have internet cafes and Wi-Fi areas or hot-spots on their ships allowing you to connect to the internet via your mobile phone, tablet or laptop so that you can to stay in touch with friends and family back at home.
It is worth noting, however, that WI-FI access may be restricted to certain public areas and access is not always available within individual staterooms on some cruise ships so check with your cruise line prior to your departure.
Use of the WI-FI almost always incurs additional fees and the charges for this will vary across the different cruise lines. Many of the Cruise Lines will also offer deals as part of their booking offers allowing you to pre pay for internet access or perhaps offer FREE WI-FI packages for a set number of minutes as part of a promotion - ask our Cruise Experts for more details.
You should also be aware that the on board connections will never match the high-speed service we may be used to at home and the Internet speeds can vary between cruise lines, ships and destinations depend upon the available bandwidth.
