Me and my partner are under 21, can we travel on a cruise on our own?
Each cruise line has their own travel rules and regulations so there are some which don’t allow passengers under the age of 21 to travel on their own.
Each cruise line has their own terms and conditions of booking so you must check with your preferred cruise line what their own specific regulations are with regards to passenger ages.
In general the majority of cruise lines do not allow passengers under the age of 21 to travel on their own. Passengers must be accompanied by an adult 21 years of age or older on the day of embarkation.
In most cases passengers over the age of 18 can stay in their own cabin which does not need to be located next to or on the same deck as their guardian’s cabin but any passengers under the age of 18 must be in the same, adjoining or next cabin.
Where your cruise is travelling to can also have an impact on travelling age. When travelling with Royal Caribbean, for example, if you are travelling within North America then you must be at least 21 whereas if you are travelling within South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand you must be at least 18 years of age.
There are a few other cruise lines which allow passengers to travel alone if they are 18 years of age including both Azamara and Cunard.
